Our goal is to glorify God in all that we do.

About Us

As a Christian organization, we recognize that we often encounter people at their most vulnerable moments. However, we see these instances as a great opportunity to serve those in need and offer them a new direction for their lives. We view these moments as divine appointments, and our goal is to provide words of encouragement and guidance, along with our services, to those we encounter. Our ultimate desire is to point people towards the Lord Jesus Christ, and we believe that by doing so, we can help them find the hope and peace they need to move forward. Whether our Christian direction is embraced or not, our overarching goal is to glorify God in all that we do. We are committed to meeting people where they are and helping them in whatever situation they find themselves.

Our History

In 1985, the Crossroads Baptist Association purchased a building in downtown Indianapolis to serve as a center for their growing association and to establish a ministry center. Four years later, the Metro Baptist Center was established, providing aid to the underprivileged through its food and clothing pantry.

The Metro Center has provided ministries to those in needs since 1990. Our food and clothing pantries have been operating continually since that time.  Over the years we have done many different types of ministries and are ready to start something new, as the opportunity arises.

An important part of our ministry has been the development of our copywritten computer data collection system called UCAN (Urban Christian Assistance Network). With the increase of families (40,000) since 2000, this software system has given us the ability to keep a handle on the growth. We believe that this system of intake may benefit other Christian ministries as well.
